Foregrounding the Verbal Process

Literature mirrors societies. While the plethora of studies on African literature, spanning from early 21st century, have discussed literary texts in their political spectrums, recent using transitivity analysis offered new and objective understandings these novels. Nonetheless, most analyses been fixated characterization, style themes. Against this background, purpose study was to use corpus procedures examine verbal process types Adichie’s novel Zikora. Assisted by linguistics, used as an analytical framework analyse text. From analysis, three major findings are reported discussion. First, through processes, Adichie deconstructed myriad suffering subjugation women dialogic means taking responsibility for livelihood. Second, foregrounded processes reflect attribution other characters than accounting effects projected clauses.
